Church Officers
Margaret Hamstead - President
Louise Machinist - Vice-President
Since joining in 1982, Sunnyhill has been Louise's home away
from home. She served 2 prior terms as a Board Member, and 1
term as President at a time of transition. "During this
transformational time, our community will continue to grow
deeper and stronger.", Louise says. "As V.P, I draw on my
training as a clinical psychologist, and my long-range view of
Sunnyhill’s evolution. My vision: celebrate the uniqueness and
complexity of this self-reliant community: think for
ourselves; honestly say what needs to be said; be who we
really are. And enjoy making music together."
Sibyl McNulty - Secretary
Sibyl McNulty has been a member of Sunnyhill for about 12
years, and before that found Unitarian Universalism in the
East suburbs of Pittsburgh. She is past Vice President and
President of the East Suburban UU Church, past Vice President
and President of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Meadville
District of the UUA and has served on the OMD Summer Institute
Planning Committee. At Sunnyhill, she teaches RE, is a member
of the Green Sanctuary Committee, and chaperones at Youth
Conferences when invited. She is married to Paul and has three
wonderful adult UU children and two UU grandchildren.
Charlie Cook - Treasurer
Charlie and his wife, Pam, reside in Upper St. Clair and have
been Unitarian Universalists for over 20 years and have been
members of Sunnyhill for 12 years. They have two grown
children, David and Katie. Charlie is a retired engineer and
is currently serving his second term as treasurer of UUCSH. He
is also involved with facility maintenance and future planning
as well as being liaison to the organizations that use our
facility including the Mushroom Family Learning Center. He is
also active in the Sunnyhill Men’s group.
Members-at-Large
Harold Behar
Harold is a principal in the 10 year old advertising and
marketing firm, Behar-Fingal, Inc located on Pittsburgh’s
North Side. As president and Creative Director he manages the
creative output of the agency. Harold believes if
you possess a talent then you should give something back to
your community. Harold is currently Vice President of the Board
for The ToonSeum and has served on numerous other
non-profit boards and the design committee of the South Side
Local Development Company. He lives in a Pittsburgh four
square with his wife and two sons in Mount Lebanon, PA.
Carol Jaworski
Carol recently relocated to the South Hills after
having spent 30 years in Florida and South Carolina.
Originally from Polish Hill and Bethel Park, she now resides
in McMurray. In her words, "Upon moving, I sought a church
that offered more than a Sunday sermon. I was looking for a
community of progressive, diverse, informed, caring people. I
found such a community at Sunnyhill, and joined in February
2008." Carol is retired, having spent a number of
years in teaching as well as in business, and is currently
Chair of the Membership Committee.
Martha Sweeney
Martha and her husband Dennis have been members of Sunnyhill
for 30 years. In her words, "Dennis and I joined for the
religious education for our three daughters, but stayed for the
friendships we have made here. This is our second home."
Martha is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and has taught high
school students, Italian nationals and several levels of
preschool at Mushroom Learning Center and ABC’s for Children.
Now retired, she indulges her hobbies of quilting, reading and
gardening. Martha also volunteers for Allegheny Extension Office
and the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council.
Bob Trivus
Bob has been involved with Sunnyhill since 1989. After
attending only two services, he was invited to join the
Sunnyhill Sunday Service Committee, where for the past 5 years
he has served as chair or co-chair. Bob is a psychiatrist in
private practice and holds an academic position in the School
of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. In the past Bob
has been the CEO of a major Pittsburgh Institution,
responsible for a 42 million dollar budget and 1850 employees.
Bob lives in Mt Lebanon with his wife Heather.
George Yeckel
Since joining Sunnyhill in 2001, George has participated in a
number of leadership roles, including co-leader of Interweave,
Board secretary and chair of the Membership committee. He has
also been involved in the Welcoming Congregation process and
represented Sunnyhill at the National Interweave convention.
As George puts it, "I profoundly believe in our UU Principles
and hope to use them on the board of trustees as a guide for
helping the healing process we must all experience if
Sunnyhill is to prosper."
